Enrichment & House Activities
Beyond the classroom, the Academy houses will provide a wide range of events, including an annual House Drama competition, an annual House Language and Literature competition, House Sports matches and sports day, and House Charity events, alongside many other activities. Students will lead these events,
taking responsibility for directing the plays as well as acting in them, for choosing the charities and devising the fund raisers as well as running them, for choosing the sketches as well as performing them, and so on.
There will be an extensive range of extra curricular activity – at least one club or activity will take place every lunchtime and after school. These will be many and varied, and will include a wide range of Business and Enterprise activities, involving various outside interests and agencies. This will include outside visits to businesses and presentations/activities led by established business people.
A message from one of our Heads of House
As Head of House it was been great to see students who have never had vertical tutoring before joining in with form time activities, advising other peers on subjects, events etc in general helping each other out. Students have entered the PE house competitions and the Drama house competition with enthusiasm and with the Drama event in February; I know we can win this. Michael Major (House Drama Leader) and the students have been very committed to this event; they have been rehearsing at lunch time and after school, to make this competition a great one for the Whittle House. I regularly check student eportal entries, the amount of positive comments the Whittle house students have from teachers it outstanding, well done and remember you can achieve everything.
