Your Child's Curriculum
Throughout the Academy, the curriculum will be tailored to the needs of the individual, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of each student. In order to do this, the progress and performance of each student must be closely monitored. The curriculum will be flexible enough
to allow students to progress at a rate that is appropriate to their abilities. Excellent support will be provided to enable all students, irrespective of ability or special educational need, to achieve their full potential.
Wherever appropriate, use will be made of ICT in order to enhance learning and teaching. All classrooms will be ICT enabled to allow easy access to facilities. Similarly, the Academy specialism of Business and Communication will be a key element of the curriculum and will have a demonstrable positive impact on the curriculum overall. At all levels, there will be assessment for learning. Students’ progress will be constantly monitored with regular feedback to parents and students. This will be done through formal written reports, assessment targets and parents’ evenings but will also occur less formally, by making use of student planners for quick and easy contact. In addition to academic progress, The Bushey Academy believes that it is vital for all students to develop as ‘well rounded’ people and citizens. To help achieve this, a comprehensive Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship Education (PHSCE) programme will be put in place and developed according to the needs of the students and the local community as appropriate.
