Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Below is a link to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award home page.

This is an exciting and challenging award that involves the four areas below:

  1. Volunteering
  2. Service
  3. Physical
  4. Expedition

Students at the academy participating in the DofE Award Scheme will undertake activities in the four areas identified above.  Students will achieve the Award following successful assessment and completion of all four sections.

The expedition is the most challenging section, with training in school leading up to the practice, which is then followed by the assessed expedition.

The expedition for the Bronze Award is for a period of one night and two days.  Students taking part have to plan their route, navigate accurately and be able to cook and camp independently.

The Silver Award expedition spans three days and two nights. Students will be assessed against similar tasks as with the Bronze Award, but at a more challenging level.

This is a very exciting opportunity for students of the academy to make a difference to their lives and the lives of other people.
