We have already made changes to address the points raised in the report.  These include:

  • A new internal reflection room
  • Stricter punishments for defiance, disrespect and persistently breaking school rules
  • Reorganisation of senior leadership team responsibilities to increase capacity around managing behaviour
  • A series of training sessions for teachers on how to better manage behaviour in classrooms
  • Appointment of two behaviour mentors to work with students who require extra support
  • A new pastoral system based around year groups with more middle leaders to improve the level of welfare and support
  • A new pastoral programme to emphasise high expectations and to improve student welfare
  • A full review of our behaviour policy ready for a September launch based around the concepts of ‘ready, respectful, safe’
  • Development of an anti-bullying programme ready for a September launch
  • Clearer expectations for students when moving around the academy building
  • A questionnaire for students to more fully understand their views (over 350 responses) so they feel more listened to
